We act for national and regional commercial developers on a wide range of industrial, retail, leisure, office and mixed use development projects. Some of these projects are significant nationally, given the sheer size or strategic importance of them.

Our work covers all aspects of commercial property development, handling legal requirements from start to finish for any project. We regularly work on long-term projects that are complex by nature, and it’s not unusual for us to work on a particular project for six years. Clients value our long-term commitment and the very infrequent changes of personnel with our team. As a result, we’ve been working with many of our clients for more than 10 years.

We handle everything from initial land options and site acquisitions to overage obligations, pre-lettings and lettings to occupiers, development and forward funding agreements or other development financing, support of grant applications, negotiation of planning and other infrastructure agreements, and disposal and exit agreements.

We work closely with each client and their other key advisors throughout the lifecycle of a project, invariably being seen as an integral part of their business. Our commercial developer clients rely on us to provide strategic guidance, rather than simply documentation of transactions, and often ask us to attend board-level and other steering meetings.

At any stage of a project, we’re able to co-ordinate and bring in other specialist legal teams, as required – especially planning, construction, banking and tax experts, but also corporate, commercial and even employment lawyers – to provide a complete legal solution at all times.
