Gateley Plc has announced three key appointments in its Birmingham and Leeds offices. Partner, Benedict Gorner, joins the company’s Employment team in Birmingham. Partner, Andrew Johnson joins the Dispute Resolution team in Leeds, whilst Fiona Holland has been appointed as director of Client and Market Development based in Birmingham.

Dispute Resolution expert, Andrew Johnson, joins the company from Watson Burton LLP, where he was a partner and head of Commercial Litigation for three years. He has also developed particular specialisms in dealing with procurement litigation and judicial review proceedings.

Andrew has acted for a range of Plc clients and other organisations such as Bellway, Microsoft, Colas and the University of Leicester. His recent successes include recovering large sums for clients in professional negligence claims against their advisors, advising on a challenge to a major NHS procurement, and advising a number of PLC house builders in relation to complex issues arising from claims by mineral rights holders.

Employment partner, Benedict Gorner, joins the firm from DLA Piper, where he spent ten years. Having started his career as a trainee at Eversheds, Benedict qualified as an Employment solicitor in 2002. He has built up an international client portfolio, including leading names in the fields of construction, fashion and retail financial services and industrial support services.

Benedict works across a broad range of employment law covering all aspects

of contentious and non-contentious employment work with particular specialisms in TUPE and change management programmes, he is also frequently asked to advise on transactional projects.

Benedict commented: “I’m delighted to be joining Gateley Plc at such a key time for the company. To become part of an already successful Employment team that is now operating as part of the first UK commercial legal business to go public, isn’t an opportunity that you would currently be able to find elsewhere in our industry so it is hugely exciting. I’ll be working closely with the existing Employment partners to expand our client portfolio and team in the Midlands and I’m looking forward to the challenge.”

The company has also announced the appointment of Fiona Holland as director of Client and Market Development. Fiona joins the company from PwC, where she spent over 10 years in various sales, business development, marketing and communications leadership roles. She will be responsible for Gateley Plc’s go-to market strategy covering sales and account management, marketing, communications and bid support.

Gateley Plc floated on the AIM market of the London Stock Exchange last month, becoming the first UK commercial legal business to do so. The company’s shares started trading on the London Stock Exchange on Monday, 8 June and it raised £30 million as part of its listing.
